The demand for sustainable disposal solutions for spent lithium-ion batteries is growing rapidly – and with it, the importance of professional, legally compliant cross-border waste transports. INNO-CON has specialized in the shipment of hazardous waste for over 20 years and has successfully collaborated with companies and authorities across Europe during this time.
Our core focus is the planning and execution of cross-border transports of special waste – naturally in accordance with EU Regulation No. 1013/2006 on shipments of waste, which has now been revised by Regulation (EU) 2024/1157. The corresponding notification procedures are part of our daily business. Thanks to our close-knit network with the competent authorities in various EU member states, we ensure efficient information exchange and, consequently, fast and legally compliant notification processes.
15 Years of Experience in Battery Recycling
We have been active in the field of battery recycling for over 15 years. The growing use of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles, digital devices, and consumer electronics is leading to increasing volumes of hazardous battery waste across Europe – and thus to a growing need for efficient, sustainable, and legally compliant recovery solutions.
Lead slag for recovery at a battery recycling facility prior to loading
The market has changed significantly in recent years: while lead slags used to be the primary focus, today the main waste streams come from lithium batteries. Our approach, however, remains the same: identifying innovative recovery facilities and conducting laboratory tests to determine the suitability of the waste for the intended recovery process – all in close coordination with the customer to develop an optimal solution.

Germany as a Central Hub
Numerous new capacities are currently being established across the EU to meet the growing recycling demand. Germany plays a key role in this: with its well-developed recovery infrastructure and the expertise of established specialist companies, it is ideally positioned to take on a leading role in the processing and cross-border shipment of hazardous battery waste.
Our Role – Your Advantage
INNO-CON actively contributes to the development of this sector. In 2024, for example, we participated in a large-scale project involving the transport of 4,000 tonnes of hazardous battery waste – primarily metal oxides containing heavy metals – through several Eastern European countries to South Korea. This required 200 transports using ADR-compliant trucks for hazardous goods.
For 2025 and 2026, we will take the lead in planning and coordinating further cross-border shipments of hazardous battery waste. Our goal: to support our clients in meeting their environmental and regulatory obligations – safely, efficiently, and in full legal compliance.
Thanks to our extensive network of specialized disposal and recovery partners, developed over decades, we are able to offer tailor-made solutions even for highly complex projects.
