ESG policy – environmental, social and governance – and management systems based on ISO 14064, ISO 14067, ISO 14040/44, ISO 14071, ISO 50001, ISO 50005 and others
The forum was held on 13.06.2022 and was opened with a short presentation by Heiko Schmidt, Managing Director of INNO-CON and DQS Bulgaria, and Plamen Panchev, Director of Thracian Industrial Zones (TIZ). The moderator of the event organized by DQS Bulgaria, TIZ and INNO-CON was Katya Staykova, Managing Director of the TIZ cluster.
In the first panel, Heiko Schmidt presented the vision of a zero-emissions company that goes through the entire life cycle of products and services – from raw materials and energy supply to key production technologies and waste management, in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14040/44 and ISO 14071 standards.
A special participant of the event was Georgi Stefanov, Head of the Political Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policy at the Council of Ministers of Bulgaria. In his presentation, Mr. Stefanov focused on climate change, the Green Deal, and the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy. Issues related to the regulatory framework for ESG (environmental, social and governance) policies were addressed, which is expected to be integrated into corporate operations and to involve all market participants in the future.
In the last two panels, Doychin Todorov, Senior Consultant at INNO-CON, highlighted the opportunities for improving energy efficiency through the implementation of energy management systems according to ISO 50001 and ISO 50005, as well as the current problems of energy management. Mr. Todorov also focused on the challenges of the Green Deal for sustainable ecological production and standardized rules for verification and certification of the carbon footprint according to the requirements of ISO 14064 and ISO 14067.
Mr. Schmidt concluded by inviting forum participants and co-organizers to the 8th Environmental Management Day (EMD), which will be held in Sofia on October 27, 2022.
